The business world has reached the point where not having an effective presence in social media can be detrimental to business. Social media should not and cannot be overlooked. Although it changes daily making marketing a business online challenging, small businesses that focus on social media boost relevance and create an effective presence in social media. And nothing else works quite as well as Facebook. It is the most successful social media platform today. Even in spite of privacy concerns, user data being sold, frequent changes made to default settings and algorithms, and experiments on the public, we continue to use it. Why?
Why should you use Facebook?
When asked why people still use Facebook, there was one answer given more often than any other: Everyone else uses it. It’s a fact that Facebook has over 1 billion users, and that number is expected to reach 3 billion by 2019. It’s only natural that people want to be where all their people are. There are many worth mentioning, but here are at least 10 reasons why you should use Facebook:
- Use as an RSS reader for news
- Log in to other websites
- Build a professional profile
- Share photos easily
- Create video messaging for free
- Organize events easily
- Join groups (They are better than bulletin boards)
- Be reminded of others’ birthdays
- Share opinions and comments easily
- More user-friendly than Google+
When should you post in Facebook?
Business owners rely on social media to boost sales, build their brands and develop relationships so that they can offer great customer service. But timing is everything. To avoid wasting time, send messages or posts only when your audience is around to see them.
So, when is the best time to post or tweet? Sorry, but that cannot be answered for you. You must find the optimal time to post for your audience. There are resources that can help you find the optimal posting times to better engage your audience and boost traffic to your website.
So, when are the best times to post on Facebook?
Facebook is an interesting social media platform to navigate from a timing point of view. Its algorithm can make this feel like a difficult task. Research shows that 75 percent of your Facebook post’s engagement happens within the first five hours. Five hours isn’t much, but you will have more leverage when posting during those five hours than you will have with a Tweet. Post Planner explains, your Facebook post “impressions hit their climax much sooner than engagement.” A full 75 percent of your post’s lifetime impressions are reached after just two and a half hours.
To make the most of this time, you need to pay attention to when your audience is most active. The best time to post on Facebook obviously depends on your business. Here are some suggested times to post to get you started:
- Quick Sprout: Thursdays and Fridays, 1pm for the most shares, 3pm for the most clicks
- Optimizely: Mondays through Thursdays between 6pm and 8pm
- Microsoft: Thursdays and Fridays from 1pm to 3pm
- Hubspot: Thursdays and Fridays from 1pm to 3pm
