Market your business

My coach, Brian Basilico, has challenged me to grow my business by one, one more ideal client. And to increase my client base I must market my business, Rockin’ Robin Virtual Assistance, right now. That may sound daunting, but it really isn’t. To market your business well you must do the following:

  1. Write blog posts
  2. Share your blog posts on your social media platforms

It’s that simple.

What should you blog about to market your business well?

If you’re wondering what to blog about, look to your audience. What questions are they asking? What keeps them up at night? Now, research, answer their questions and provide them with solutions to what troubles them with a minimum of 300 words.

YOU are a great blogging resource, too. Is there a topic you would like to learn more about? Would you like to learn a new skill to help you meet the needs of your audience? Research and share what you learned as an expert in 300 or more words.

How often should you write blog posts to market your business well?

New blogs should share two new blog posts each week. Once you’re established, once a week is perfect – same time, same day, every week. Twice a month is okay provided you are consistent – same time, same day of the month, every month. Once a month? Well, that puts you in front of folks only 12 times a year.

Look at it like this:

  • 2 blog posts per week = 104 times per year
  • 1 blog post each week = 52 times per year
  • 2 blog posts per month = 24 times per year
  • 1 blog post each month = 12 times per year

Which blog post schedule will put you top of mind with your audience best?

How does social media help market your business?

Social media can be a wonderful tool to market your business when combined with your weekly blog posts. Using it to attract new clients with great blog posts makes the time spent on each platform valuable. It can quickly become a time sink (aka rabbit hole), so be mindful.

Posting your fresh content weekly to Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn and Twitter, drives traffic BACK to your website. Your audience sees your posts, want to read your articles and they click on the link which takes them to your website. Driving your audience back to your website encourages visitors to spend time getting to know you and the value you share.
